It’s Working Wednesday (well, technically it’s Friday) for the Fighting Irish, and the big game is inching closer here in south Florida.
This morning, offensive coordinator Chuck Martin and quarterback Everett Golson spoke with the media in a press conference at the Harbor Beach Marriott. In the breakout room, Zack Martin, T.J. Jones, Theo Riddick and Tyler Eifert also met with reporters.
It was a hectic scene at the media hotel with everyone on scene from ESPN to the Tuscaloosa News to Notre Dame’s own student newspaper, The Observer.
Once again, Notre Dame hit the practice field at the Miami Dolphins facility in Davie, Fla. The locker room was just redesigned this past offseason, so while it doesn’t have the same history as the one in Notre Dame Stadium, I would certainly imagine the Dolphins practice complex is one of the nicest in the NFL.
The Irish practiced for about 75 minutes, before the players grabbed lunch in the dining room next to locker room. The players are currently enjoying a bit of down time, before the Orange Bowl Committee’s official team BBQ Beach Bash later on this evening.
Just a reminder to follow along at Facebook.com/NDFootball and on Twitter at @NDFootball, @NDSportsBlogger and @NDfidm. Also, for those on Instagram, be sure to check out @TheFightingIrish, as we’ve got a few pictures from the trip posted on the there too.
Today’s Fighting Irish Digital Media updates include a practice report and this morning’s press conference. As always, these BCS updates are brought to you by St. Joseph Regional Medical Center.
About an hour ago, the second half of the university’s travel party arrived in Florida, and as the weekend kicks off, you can really start to feel the energy in the Ft. Lauderdale/Miami area.
After a couple of days of listening to players and coaches answer what has seemed to be a thousand questions about the game and the Crimson Tide, I’m wondering if they are as ready as I am for Monday night to be here.
Still, I have to remind myself that this is the experience of a lifetime for the players, as well as the students, fans and alumni who have migrated south. There’s no need to rush it.
Go Irish. Beat Bama.
